WHAT DO THESE SPONSORSHIP CATEGORIES MEAN?

Ship Captain? a Rigid Inflatable Boat Driver? Airship Pilot? Ocean Explorer?

They’re essentially the Greenpeace equivalents of sponsoring a table, except there’s no sit-down portion to this lively and interactive Greenpeace experience. Each sponsorship category comes with a set number of tickets, so you’ll be able to bring your colleagues, friends and contacts for a trip behind the proverbial Greenpeace curtain. All sponsorships are “virtual” so not to worry, we won’t ask you to actually captain the Rainbow Warrior on the high seas! But make no mistake, your sponsorship is just as important as the roles represented by each of these categories. But if you’re interested in such experiences, please check out our silent auction at the event. There you’ll find opportunities to win a ride in a Greenpeace Rigid Inflatable Boat or the Greenpeace Airship, in addition to other signature experiences.

SHIP CAPTAIN - $10,000

The Greenpeace fleet of ships is a unique asset in our battle to save the planet and protect the global oceans. Our ships are used at the forefront of Greenpeace campaigning, often sailing to remote areas to bear witness and take action against environmental destruction. They give us the ability to work in ways we couldn’t otherwise, and are inspiring manifestations of the magic of Greenpeace. Our fleet consists of an ice breaker called the Arctic Sunrise, a repurposed ice class fire fighting vessel called the Esperanza and our storied flagship the Rainbow Warrior.

RIGID INFLATABLE BOAT DRIVER - $6,000

Our Rigid Inflatable Boats - or RIBs - might not be our biggest boats, but they are often our most effective tools at sea. For getting between a whaling ship and a whale, stopping toxic waste dumping at sea and confronting illegal fishing operations they have no equal. Our RIBs are characterized by a hard fiberglass or aluminum hull that allows the boat to travel at high speeds through rough seas; a specially constructed rubber tube that runs along the bow and sides of the hull to give the boat exceptional buoyancy and stability in the water; and a powerful engine that makes the boat fast and maneuverable.

AIRSHIP PILOT - $3,500

Greenpeace’s thermal airship is one of four vessels of its kind in the United States and one of only 60 in the world. The A.E. Bates Thermal Airship, named after a volunteer who gave over 25,000 hours to the organization before his passing in 2008, has been owned and flown by Greenpeace since 2010. The unique and airborne nature of our airship combined with its ability to display banners that can be changed to represent specific campaigns allows us to communicate large visual messaging in spectacular fashion. Over the years, Greenpeace has used it to draw attention to issues ranging from the problems of overfishing in the Bering Sea to the impacts of global warming in Glacier National Park.

OCEAN EXPLORER - $2,000

Our oceans are the life support system for our planet, providing 97% of the Earth’s livable habitat and a home to more than 700,000 species. They are vital to human health as well, as billions of people depend on the sea for their survival and well being. Despite the critical importance of our global oceans, so much about them remains unknown. Which is why marine science and ocean exploration are key components to Greenpeace’s efforts to protect them.
