SILENT AUCTION ADVENTURE
EXCURSION IN A GREENPEACE RIGID INFLATABLE BOAT
Bid for a ride in a Greenpeace Rigid Inflatable Boat! While these boats in our fleet (otherwise known as RIBs by their acronym) might not be our biggest boats, they are often our most effective tools at sea.
Below the water is a rigid hull that allows the boat to travel at high speeds through rough seas. A specially-constructed rubber tube that runs along the bow and sides of the hull gives the boat exceptional buoyancy and stability in the water. A powerful engine makes the boat fast and maneuverable. For applications such as getting between a whaling ship and a whale, stopping toxic waste dumping at sea and confronting illegal fishing operations on the high seas they have no equal.
Many Greenpeace inflatables over the years have had barrels of radioactive waste dropped on them, been squashed by ships transporting illegal timber and been sprayed with powerful water cannons from offshore oil rigs. They have confronted whalers in the Southern Ocean, helped document the full extent of the Gulf Oil Spill in 2010 and played a key role in our campaign to keep Shell from drilling in the Arctic in 2015. These boats have been used by Greenpeace around the world in our global efforts to protect the environment.
Greenpeace will work with the winning bidder to schedule a memorable outing on the Bay. It is of course weather dependent, so please bid generously on this once-in-a-lifetime experience with a bit of scheduling flexibility in mind.
